Radiation Safety Molecular Imaging and Therapeutics

Radiation protection in molecular imaging and therapeutics, radiation therapy, and diagnostic imaging is concerned with the control of both normal and potential exposure of workers, patients, and the general public in all situations that involve the use of machine produced, unsealed and sealed radiation sources.

Medical Health Physics services include:

  • Training staff in the proper handling and documentation of radioactive materials and the safe operation of radiation-producing equipment.
  • Performing inspections and audits of radioactive materials within the laboratories.
  • Performing and reviewing leakage tests on sealed sources.
  • Providing personnel radiation dosimetry monitoring service.
  • Providing and maintaining beta & gamma sample counting equipment, and an iodination core facility.
  • Providing structural shielding plans for fixed radiological installations.
  • Monitoring environmental releases to ensure regulatory compliance.
